The competition is a sprint distance qualification race competition with A-finals only. There shall be a qualification race with competitors allocated to 3 heats according to Competition Rule 12.8.
The competition is a long distance single-race competition with A and B-races. The basis for qualification are the World Cup standings after event 15, according to total scores calculated by summing each competitor's best 8 scores. A Federation may be represented with more than 6 competitors in a class, provided each competitor has a total score of at least 1 point after event 14. For each class, the top 40 entrants, according to the World Cup standings, qualify for the A-final. In the case of a tie for the last place(s), all competitors concerned shall qualify for the A-final. The remaining competitors shall run in the B-finals, except that if there are less than 10 competitors in a B-final they may run in the A-final.
The competition is a relay competition (the World Cup Relay Final). Each relay team consists of 3 runners (max 2 teams per nation). For detailed information, please look at Special Rules for the 2002 World Cup.

The Event Centre is located at Hotel Santon in the holiday resort of Brno Dam Lake. It is located 8 km to the north from the city centre, in walking distance to model events and training opportunities.
The competition Office will be held open from September 30. 09.2002 - 09:00 am. All information about World Cup program, accommodation and catering will be distributed from here. Transportation to the events will be also arranged from the Event Centre.
From Prague to Brno centre: Train (eurocity) 2:50 hour, Fast train 3:10 hour, Bus 2:30 hour, Car 2:10 hours (210 km - motorway D1)
From Budapest (Hungary) 290 km, From Bratislava (Slovakia) 145 km D2, From Wien (Austria) 125 km

Transport from accommodations and the Event Centre (Hotel Santon - Brno) to the race areas is included in the entry fee. You may arrange your own transportation to the areas. The distance from the Event Centre to race areas:

All food and meals are European. Choice of three meals. Vegetarian food is available upon request. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner with tea or mineral water are included in the price of accommodation. (Without Drinks according to one's own order)
Cultural Evening and prize giving ceremony including dinner in Hotel Santon on Oct. 5. 2002 is included in registration fee.
At the Event Centre Hotel Santon (4-star class) and in surrounding area (Dam Lake) we can offer 4 different standards. All prices are EUR per person per day and include three meals.

Variant A+B include bathroom, linens, TV, phone. Sauna, fitness centre and indoor pool are available.
Preliminary reservation of accommodation and catering with prepayment 20% are to be made until 30.04.2002. Booking of rooms in Hotel Santon (Event Centre) will be on a first-come first-serve basis. Deadline for final reservation and full payment is Aug 19. 2002.
Per competitor: 90 EUR. This includes model event, events Oct.2.2002 and Oct.3.2002
Per relay team: 60 EUR. This includes model event, event Oct. 5.2002 and official transportation.
Per team official: 55 EUR. This includes official transportation and model event.

A city park on the slope above The Svratka River with total climbing 120m. A number of roads, boulders and small precipices. Sporadically low running speed. A small part of the area provides a number of terrain details. A part of the map covers district of houses.
Mostly city built-up area (historic centre of Brno) with large streets, lanes, little squares, here and there linked by passages and arcades. The remaining area is a city park around Spilberk castle with a lot of roads and vegetation details. Mildly broken terrain, around the castle almost hilly.
A typical Central European terrain with a lot of paths and vegetation details, areas with a number of ditches. The speed of running is reduced by thick undergrowth. The terrain is mildly broken in the south and hilly in the north. In the centre of area lies the Automotodrom Brno - Grand Prix Czech Republic, where are a number of buildings and a golf course.
Karst terrain, high speed of running, areas with a lot of karst details. A number of paths and vegetation details. Mildly broken terrain, hilly parts.

For both women and men, the winning times for the qualification and final races shall be 12-15 minutes.
The winning times of the A-finals shall be 70 minutes for women and 90 minutes for men. The winning times of the B-finals shall be 50 minutes for women and 60 minutes for men.
The winning time for women shall be 120 minutes (sum of fastest times for all legs) and 30-50 minutes for each leg. The winning time for men shall be 150 minutes (sum of fastest times for all legs) and 35-60 minutes for each leg.

According to Czech orienteering rules the whole body except head, neck and arms shall be covered during the competition. Shoes with metallic knob-studs are allowed.
The SI electronic punching system will be used in all WC races.
2.10. Wednesday
An open race in sprint area will be held free of charge in the city centre after the victory ceremony of sprint.
4.10. Friday
Officials event - 3 courses (3,5,7 km) will be organized in walking distance from the event centre on Friday morning (rest day). Start fee 5 EUR will be paid cash on start.
5.10. Saturday
Czech National Relay Ranking race will be held in the competition centre after the victory ceremony.
There are two options for training camps:
A. Training camp in conjunction with Brno Spring Cup, two days orienteering event held in Brno surroundings, 6.-7.04.2002. Training camp can be organized on request either before or preferably after the event. Contact person Jaroslav Dokoupil.
B. Training camp in conjunction with Park World Tour series held in Czech republic 6.-9.05.2002 (preferably before the event). Contact person Libor Zrídkavesely.
During the WC week we can offer a training possibility either on the map Bíly potok (2001) - 10 km from the event centre (on request and extra fee), or on a map for model event in walking distance from the event centre.
